Abstract

Despite the numerous benefits of mindfulness training, the practice has faced recent accusations of cultural appropriation and commodification. This paper will address the problematic applications of mindfulness practices in a Western context in order to present a roadmap for equitable, socially-conscious, and culturally-responsive mindfulness instruction in K-12 schools.
